SEPA QR code generator (EPC / Girocode)

A SEPA QR code, also called an EPC QR code or Girocode, pre-fills a euro bank transfer in the payer's own banking app so they never type your IBAN by hand. QRasli generates them free to the EPC069-12 standard, with no watermark on any plan.

Print an EPC QR code on an invoice and the person paying it scans it in their banking app instead of copying a 22-character IBAN across from a PDF. The beneficiary, IBAN, amount and reference arrive already filled in; they check the figures and approve. It is the standard used on invoices and donation forms across the euro area — Germany and Austria call it a Girocode, the Netherlands and Finland call it Scan2Pay, and the Baltic banks support the same EPC069-12 format. QRasli builds it free, with no watermark and no expiry.

How it works

1

Enter the payee name and IBAN

Exactly as the bank holds the account. Spaces in the IBAN are fine — they are stripped for you.

2

Add an amount and reference, or leave them out

A fixed amount and an invoice number make the transfer a two-tap job. Leave the amount empty and the payer fills it in.

3

Put it on the invoice

Print it beside the bank details rather than instead of them — a payer whose app cannot scan still needs the IBAN in text.

Pro tips

Keep the reference short and recognisable

It appears in the payer's app and on your statement. 'Invoice 2026-114' reconciles; 'payment' does not.

The code is a bank transfer, not a card payment

Nothing is charged when it is scanned. The payer's own bank moves the money after they approve it, so there is no processing fee and no chargeback.

Static is usually right here

An IBAN does not change often. Use a dynamic code only if you want to swap the destination account or amount after printing.

Test it with your own banking app first

Scan the code and check the name, IBAN and amount that appear before sending it to a customer. Do not send the payment — just confirm the fields.

Common questions

What is an EPC QR code?+

It is the European Payments Council's QR format (EPC069-12) for a SEPA Credit Transfer. Scanning it pre-fills a euro transfer in the payer's banking app with your name, IBAN, amount and reference. It is known as a Girocode in Germany and Austria and as Scan2Pay in the Netherlands and Finland.

Which banks and countries support it?+

Banking apps across the euro area, most widely in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Finland, and supported by Baltic banks. Support depends on the payer's app rather than on your account, so print your IBAN in text as well.

Does it work for payments outside the euro area?+

No. EPC QR codes carry SEPA Credit Transfers in euro only. For Indian payments use a UPI QR code; for anything else, a link to a payment page.

Is a BIC required?+

Not for accounts inside the EEA — version 002 of the standard makes it optional and QRasli leaves it out unless you enter one. A few non-EEA banks still ask for it, so the field is there if you need it.

Does QRasli charge a fee on the payment?+

No. The QR code only pre-fills a transfer the payer approves in their own bank. No money passes through QRasli, so there is nothing for us to take a fee from.

Do these codes expire or carry a watermark?+

No. Static EPC codes never expire and carry no watermark on any plan, including free.
