QR code questions, answered
Everything about free QR codes, expiry, tracking, logos and printing — in plain words.
Free QR codes
Is QRasli really a free QR code generator?+
Yes. Static QR codes are unlimited and free forever — no watermark, no sign-up tricks, no expiry. The Free plan also includes 3 dynamic (editable, trackable) QR codes with 500 tracked scans per month. You only pay if you need more dynamic codes or deeper analytics.
Do free QR codes expire?+
QRasli codes never expire. Many popular generators let you create a 'free' QR code, then quietly disable it after a 14-day trial — after you've printed it. A static QRasli code works as long as the print survives, and free dynamic codes keep redirecting forever.
Does QRasli add a watermark to QR codes?+
No. Free downloads are clean, print-ready PNGs with your own colors, logo and frame. The only branding anywhere is a small 'Made with QRasli' badge on free hosted landing pages, and paid plans remove even that.
Can I make a QR code without creating an account?+
You can design the entire QR code — type, colors, logo, frame — without an account. Creating a free account is only needed at the download step, so your design and its future edits stay saved to you.
Which QR code types can I create?+
Seventeen types: website link, plain text, email, phone call, SMS, vCard contact card, WhatsApp chat, WiFi network, UPI payment, PDF, app download, image gallery, video, social profiles, links list (link-in-bio), calendar event, and raw 2D barcode data.
Dynamic QR codes & tracking
What is a dynamic QR code?+
A dynamic QR code encodes a short QRasli link (like qrasli.asli.one/r/Ab3xK9m) instead of your final URL. When scanned, we instantly forward the visitor to your destination. Because that hop goes through us, you can change the destination anytime and see every scan — without reprinting anything.
Can I edit a QR code after printing it?+
Yes — that's exactly what dynamic QR codes are for. Change the destination URL in your dashboard and the very next scan uses the new address. Menus, packaging, posters and business cards never need reprinting.
How does QR code scan tracking work?+
Every scan of a dynamic code records the time, approximate city (from the IP address, which we then discard), device type, operating system and browser. Your dashboard shows scans over time, top locations, device breakdowns and an hour-of-day pattern.
Is QR code tracking anonymous?+
Yes. We never store the scanner's IP address, name, or precise location — only city-level geography and device class. No cookies are set on people who scan. This keeps you on the right side of privacy laws including India's DPDP Act and the GDPR.
What happens if I stop paying — do my QR codes break?+
Never. This is our core promise: printed codes keep working. If you downgrade, your 3 most-scanned dynamic codes stay active on the Free plan; the rest pause with a polite notice page until you upgrade again or choose which to keep. Nothing is ever deleted.
What is a QR code landing page?+
For content that isn't a simple link — a contact card, PDF, photo gallery or event — QRasli hosts a fast mobile page for you at your code's short link. Edit it anytime; changes are live on the next scan. No website needed.
Design & printing
Can I add my logo to a QR code?+
Yes — upload a PNG, JPG or SVG (or pick a built-in one like WhatsApp, Instagram or UPI) and it sits in the center of the code. QRasli automatically raises the error-correction level and clears space behind the logo so the code still scans reliably.
What's the best format for printing QR codes?+
For professional printing, use SVG (available on paid plans) — it's a vector, so it stays razor sharp at any size. For everyday use, our free PNG downloads go up to 4096 pixels, which prints crisply even on posters.
How small can I print a QR code?+
Rule of thumb: minimum 2 x 2 cm for close-range scanning (menus, cards), and scan distance ÷ 10 for posters — a code scanned from 1 metre away should be at least 10 cm wide. Always test-scan a printed sample before a big run.
Why won't my QR code scan?+
The usual causes: too little contrast between the code and background (keep the code much darker than its background), a logo that's too large, printing too small, or a damaged print. QRasli warns you about low-contrast designs before you download.
Plans & billing
How much does QRasli cost?+
Free forever for unlimited static codes and 3 dynamic codes, with no watermark. Then one paid plan: Pro at $9/month (₹499 in India), or $90/year. It includes everything — unlimited dynamic codes, unlimited tracked scans, full analytics, the REST API, bulk CSV creation and 5 team members. There is no higher tier.
How do I pay?+
UPI, credit/debit cards and netbanking, processed by Razorpay and billed in Indian rupees. Every paid plan has a 7-day money-back guarantee — email [email protected] and we refund, no questions asked.
Is there a QR code API?+
Yes, and it is included on Pro rather than held back for a higher tier. The REST API creates dynamic codes, updates destinations, renders PNG/SVG images and pulls scan statistics, plus bulk creation from a CSV of up to 1,000 rows.
